In the year 2000, a small group of dedicated individuals forged the foundation for the Driftless Area Land Conservancy. With the guidance of Gathering Waters, our statewide support conservancy, we were incorporated as a private, non-profit land trust and have been working diligently to create a voluntary conservation organization that serves the communities of southwest Wisconsin. We appreciate the solemn trust that landowners have bestowed upon us to protect and preserve their family lands in perpetuity. With this in mind, we have adopted the strict standards of the Land Trust Alliance.
The people of the region are our greatest asset. We have drawn experts from the local community to guide our land protection efforts. With a diverse board of directors and dedicated volunteers and staff, we have the capacity to address complex conservation and environmental needs of concerned citizens and private landowners who seek expertise in botany, geology, forestry, archaeology and legal and policy matters associated with land preservation and conservation.
